Benefits

As a member of Home Modifications Australia (MOD.A) you have an opportunity to actively contribute to and influence the development of the home modifications sector and receive access to information and resources and discounts to events. Membership is available to providers that supply home modification and maintenance services (Ordinary membership) and to others that are involved in the home modification and maintenance industry (Associate membership).

Advocacy and Representation:

MOD.A is the national industry body for home modification and home maintenance service providers and is an important and growing influence on national and state policy initiatives that affect the sector. We regularly consult with members to represent their views and position on a range of issues to government and other stakeholders. Regular forums, questionnaires and consultations provide members with the opportunity for direct input into our position statements and research papers used to lobby the housing industry, aged care and disability services, government and other stakeholders.

Collaboration:

MOD.A works closely with local and national peak organisations, industry bodies and research centres  such as Aged Care Services Australia (ACSA), Australian Council of Social Services (ACOSS), UNSW Social Policy Research Centre and the Home Modifications Information Clearinghouse so that our policy responses not only reflect the position of our members but are informed and evidence-based. We understand the importance of people being able to live and age within their own homes. We actively engage with all stakeholders to advance issues such as Universal Design standards and appropriate retrofitting of existing homes. Members benefit from our collaborations because they strengthen our advocacy and lobbying capacity and raise awareness of home modifications and their effectiveness in the broader community.

Information:

Access to reliable, up to date information and other resources is essential for home modification and maintenance providers and others engaged with the sector. MOD.A members receive information and analysis of changes in government policies and program initiatives and information on organisational issues such as governance, financial and risk management and quality assurance.
Information is provided to members via our quarterly newsletter publication and regular email updates, the members-only section of our website, conferences, workshops and forums and Information Sheets.

Training:

Members and their staff receive discounts to our training events and conferences. We are currently in negotiations with relevant industry partners to provide appropriate training opportunities for Occupational Therapists and builders/tradespersons who wish to specialise in home modifications and we regularly review our training program to reflect the needs of members.

Networking:

MOD.A provides opportunities for our members to meet and exchange information and develop collaborative business partnerships through our national conference, meetings, forums and webcasts.
